Alexis + Jesse: Wedding!
Written by Magda and Bartek on July 31, 2009 – 12:09 pm - You may remember these two from a fabulous (but cold!) engagement photoshoot we did back in the winter. Click here to check it out!
Man, the weather this season is really making outdoor photography quite challening. It has rained nearly every wedding we have done in the past few months! But instead of getting all bummed about it we take it as a challenge and try to come up with some great artistic solutions for our brides, and this wedding is no exception!
After the ceremony, we headed out to a beeeautiful green field where we quickly snapped some shots with these dark storm clouds behind Alexis and Jesse…The pics are HOT! Then we headed out to our second location… On the way to Alexis’ house in the morning, Magda spotted this beautiful old car in someones yard, so we did a U-turn (we had 15 mins to spare) knocked on the door, and asked for permission to shoot on their property later that afternoon. The lovely people agreed, and so we went back after the ceremony. Of course we had to have our umbrellas in hand, as it was raining quiet a bit. But the pictures turned out ah-mazing, and we’d like to thank the lovely couple for letting us use their fabulous backyard! THANK YOU! Afterwards, as a third location, we went to this old “Haunted” brick home, where we got some amazing shots. I gotta say that the dark clouds, the soft light and the rain really do add a certain atmosphere to the photos that you will see below;
Anyways, the day went beautifully! Everyone had a blast and we are extremely happy with the way the photos turned out. So for any of our brides reading this are worried about the rain…don’t be! We’re seasoned pros when it comes to a rainy wedding day! ;) Just go with the flow and let the rain give you some amazing photo opportunities that you normally wouldn’t have.
Alexis and Jesse, thank you for the wedding day, you two looked amazing! We wish you the best in your new life together. Here are our favourite moments of the day…

Alexis’ beautiful dress…

Alexis getting help from all her four girls!

Wow.

Alexis’ mom had a stunning back yard that we just had to use:

First kiss!!!!

Here is the field we were talking about. Check out those crazy cool storm clouds forming in the background!

Bartek’s shot: (although this was Magda’s splendid idea ;)

Here is the gorgeous truck we found in the sweet lady’s backyard:

We found some ruins that some people claim to be haunted…but the ghosts were nice enough to let us use it for a few minutes ;)

If you wanted to see the bride and groom kiss, you had to sing something. So here are Alexis’ sisters singing “Skinnamarink”! Cute!!

Their first dance…

Everone knew the YMCA :)

Jesse’s mom MADE this cake! Can you believe this?

Deb, Mike, Kezie, Tegan & Champ
Written by Magda and Bartek on July 21, 2009 – 6:39 pm - Family photoshoots are SO much fun! Debbie and Mike wanted to do something special for their family for their 13th (!) wedding anniversary, so they decided they would like to make some memories by capturing them on photos. Awesome idea, and congratulations guys, we wish you double and triple that! :)
Deb and Mike have two gorgeous little girls, Kenzie and Tegan…and a fantastic dog named Champ whom they also brought to the session. Not knowing that we are huge dog lovers!!! I think everyone will agree that their entire family is easy on the eyes too…
We took them to a historic little piece of countryside called Pinhey’s Point near Ottawa, Ontario where we found alot of beautiful nature as well as historic homes, barns and ruins. This place is a great natural photo studio so we are very glad to finally be able to use it! They were a pleasure to work with and everyone had lots of fun which is exactly how we like to work, or should I say play? ;) We absolutely love doing photoshoots like this that capture the love and beauty of family and relationships!
Check out this killer backdrop:

This used to be a stone kitchen built beside the Pinhey house in 1820:

Love the light on these stairs! I can totally see this one hanging in the living room! :D

One of our faves of the day!

Can they BE any more sincere? ;)

Gorgeous Debbie

And of course, let’s not forget Champ!!! Woop WOOP!

I love this one because all five of them are on the same foot/paw!

We went down to the river and spent alot of time throwing rocks…

Daddy’s girls:

Of course we had to have the obligatory roll down the hill…

Aren’t they all adorable?

Colleen + Jay: Wedding!
Written by Magda and Bartek on July 16, 2009 – 2:43 pm - How time flies… both Bartek and I knew eachother in Polish school, we met in grade 5 in Ottawa… And Jay was one of the guys in our class! Bartek remembers getting into all sorts of trouble with Jay & the guys like spitting spit balls at the black board when the teacher wasn’t looking. Also we should mention Jays wicked hair cut… which we won’t comment on, but you can view the pic in the slide show and comment yourself ;)
It is amazing and exciting to see people we knew a long time ago falling in love and finding their perfect soul mate! Jay and Colleen met 6+ years ago through a mutual friend, and right away sparks flew and they knew this was it! They seem like such a great team together! Everyone at the wedding was saying that they are exactly the same couple as they were when they met.
The day was so much fun, even though the forecast said rain, somehow everytime we needed to step outside for a picture it stopped! Their wedding was held on the beach at Colleen’s uncles house at 8:30 pm. Unfortunately there was no sun set but the light was great and the mood very romantic! See for yourself below…
Thank you for a great day… And our new fish that we named after you… ”Colleen” (they were in the centerpieces!)… Klementine loves it! We wish you the best in life :)
Colleen and the girls got ready at The Spa

Colleen and her two maids of honor! :)

The yard at Jay’s parents house was perfect for photography! Really beautiful.

It rained on and off so we were prepared…

The first location for photos was The Velvet Room where they do murder mysteries! Really chic.

We had to do a James Bond type shot…quite sexy and risqué. We love it!

We then headed to a beautiful little field…

The reception and ceremony was held in Dunrobin

Finally! They got married =}

We all hoped for a little sunset, but we worked our magic instead… ;)

The father daughter dance:

And the son and mother dance:

Check out who’s third from the left! ;)

While the party was going on up at the house, the guys set up a little club at the beach!

Colleen’s uncle surprised everyone at the end with some beautiful fireworks!

Shannon + Jeremy: Wedding!
Written by Magda and Bartek on July 9, 2009 – 10:07 pm - We met Shannon and Jeremy through Nimi and Grant and we were immediately stoked for shooting Shannon’s wedding because she oozed so much excitement we knew it would make our cameras happy!
The weather in Ottawa and Montreal has been a little shady and unpredicatable so again we were cautious about the rain but thankfully it turned out to be another beautiful day for a wedding! The wedding took place at the Hotel Chateau Cartier and we took the newlyweds out for photos around the area to some nearby locations, fields, downtown and even the pub they first met at.
One of the unique things Shannon and Jeremy did was that they decided to have the photoshoot before the ceremony! Which of course meant that they were going to meet for the first time before they said their vows. This got us excited because it allowed for a very serene and beautiful opportunity to catch the two of them seeing eachother for the first time all alone instead of in front of alot of people! Very cool! We definitely approve of twists like this. ;)
We hope your new life together gives you everything you’ve ever dreamed of! Congratulations and enjoy some of our favourite moments from your special day…

Stunning!

Jeremy was ready when we got there so I captured him while he anxiously waited for his bride…

The moment just before they first met!

How awesome!!!

We took them to a nearby field by the Ottawa river…

Then we headed out to Elgin street to the Lieutenant’s Pump pub where Shannon and Jeremy met!

Shannon boldly came and sat in Jeremy’s lap in this very room many years ago when they first me! And here they are now…

Magical…

One of our favourites of the day!

We had to keep dodging cyclists but as Magda says, a wedding dress is a golden ticket to do anything! And it’s SO true ;)

The gorgeous girls!

And of course the guys strutting their stuff…

Jeremy had no idea this was going to happen…we loved it!

And finally they got married!!!!

The geese were just asking to be photographed, so we took the newlyweds for a last photo on the golf course.

They had a wicked Jazz band playing all night!

Check out the slideshow below for more photos from their wonderful day!
